Mini-Portfolio

I added this study from 117A to remind myself how mediocre it is and what I need to work on.

By the same token, I believe this piece received good feedback, but of course I still feel as though that I have much to work on; being that this is probably the best finished work that I have accomplished thus far. It serves as a reminder for how far I've come, but more prominently to me, how much farther I have to do.

This is my vanilla walk cycle from the year. I had a very even walk cycle, so I took out and held a couple frames to try and touch up the push and the fall. Because of this lazy edit, the hands flick, weirdly, but I was pressed for time. I'm not too concerned; hopefully I can simply learn from this.

My name is Thierry Tamonte and I will be taking upperdivision classes this year (117B and 115), being my final year (hopefully) before BFA (also hopefully). I started as an illustration major, and though I wavered about my options, at the moment am still an illustration major, though what I am trying to improve most in is my drawing ability since the ability to tell story and bring life to a drawing is something that can carry practically all sets of art. This summer I took a normal physics class, which had some interesting anecdotes, but was a class that didn't ask much of you in terms of work or trying to learn the concepts themselves. Still, I tried to take away from it anything that would help me with lighting. The physics part was too math focused in the class to be very engaging for me; I find I do better with being interested in conceptual ideas rather than trying to stick math into the situation like algebra or trigonometry. I especially didn't like how the measurement of Joules and other quantities didn't seem like it could apply to my life in any way, shape or form. I appreciated gaining a better understanding of how things worked in my world, but then trying to apply math to it was bad for me.
